S.A.R.C.'sSince November 1988, state law has required all public schools receiving state funding to prepare and distribute a SARC. A similar requirement is also contained in the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act . The purpose of the report card is to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school. A SARC can be an effective way for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals. The public may also use a SARC to evaluate and compare schools on a variety of indicators. Vista's current SARCs can be accessed by clicking on the links below: Vista del Mar FoundationThe Vista del Mar Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated solely to the betterment of education at Vista de Las Cruces School. State and Federal AccountabilityVista's Growth Academic Performance Index (API) for 2012 is 904! This is the first time Vista has ever surpassed the 900 mark on the API. Congratulations on this amazing accomplishment. You can view all of Vista's official accountability from the California Department of Education by clicking here. Academic StandardsCalifornia schools are currently in a transition phase with academic standards. The current state standards, originally published in 1997, will be in place until the end of the 2013-14 school year. California's Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program, based on the 1997 standards, will also be in place until the end of the 2013-14 school year. Meanwhile, we are working on gradually transitioning to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Since 2010, 45 states have adopted the same standards for English and math. These standards are called the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Having the same standards helps all students get a good education, even if they change schools or move to a different state. Teachers, parents, and education experts designed the standards to prepare students for success in college and the workplace. The assessment tied to these standards will be administered beginning in the 2014-15 school year.
