Vista Middle School Students have participated in some fascinating real-word, & hands-on, learning recently. In January 2014 our middle school students visited the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles in order to bring history alive. They also researched how buildings can be built to better withstand earthquakes. Finally in January 2014 our middle school students worked with students and staff from University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB) to build their own solar car. Thank you middle school teachers Ms. Santos, Mr. Robertson, and Mrs. Blackwood for making learning engaging and meaningful for our 6th - 8th grade students.

For Red Ribbon Week 2012, Vista's student body and staff dressed in red and formed the "V." In 2013, we did the same thing for the letter, "I." I bet you can predict which letter it will be in 2014 as we make sure we are a drug free one letter at a time.

School Accountability Report Card (SARC)
Since November 1988, state law has required all public schools receiving state funding to prepare and distribute a SARC. A similar requirement is also contained in the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act . The purpose of the report card is to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school. A SARC can be an effective way for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals. The public may also use a SARC to evaluate and compare schools on a variety of indicators.
Vista's current SARCs can be accessed by clicking on the link below:
Since 2010, 45 states have adopted the same standards for English and math. These standards are called the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Having the same standards helps all students get a good education, even if they change schools or move to a different state. Teachers, parents, and education experts designed the standards to prepare students for success in college and the workplace. The assessment tied to these standards will be administered beginning in the 2014-15 school year. Please use the links below to find out more information about standards:
