Read Across America
Vista del Mar Union School District, established in 1923, is a single-school district located in the unicorporated area of Gaviota, approximately 30 miles north of scenic Santa Barbara on the central coast of California. The District Office and its K-8 school, Vista de Las Cruces, are surrounded by foothills covered with twisting sycamore and oak trees and fragrant coastal sage. The school and its surrounding communities embrace the valley's rich history into its curriculum, providing a warm atmosphere and creative educational educational experience for each of its students.

VASE is back
VASE is Vista's After School Enrichment Program and it has been developed in response to Vista's original LCAP Parent Survey. We've had the good fortune to develop relationships with community members and organizations in order to bring the best possible learning opportunities to Vista's students.
We have some fantastic offerings again from Buellton Recreation including Cricket, Nature Track, Art, and Basketball. Click HERE to see the flyer for Buellton Rec's Offerings. Click HERE to go to the Bulleton Rec website and sign up for something.
And finally, in January of 2016 we are starting up "Club CCR" for students in grades 3-8 interested in Coding, Chess, and Robotics. Click HERE to see the flyer about Club CCR and click HERE to sign up.

Red Ribbon Photos
Each of the past four years during Red Ribbon Week we have formed one letter of our school's showing we consistently stay drug free. We do this with an aerial photo. This wonderful opportunity is provided by the Santa Ynez Valley Foundation. We just recently did the "T" and will have the photo of that posted soon
The Vista Volunteers meet at 3 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month in the Staff Lounge. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Vista Del Mar Foundation
The Vista del Mar Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated solely to the betterment of education at Vista de Las Cruces School. The mission of the Foundation is to provide additional funding to the Vista del Mar Union School District to support co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
Vista's teachers have wholeheartedly embraced the transition to new State Standards. Besides continuing to gain a deeper understanding of the standards themselves, teachers are using programs such as College Preparatory Math (CPM), Engage New York Math, and Lucy Calkins's Writer's Workshop in their classrooms. We are also focusing on the 8 Standards of Mathematical Practice (SMPs) across the entire school Preschool - 8th Grade. Below are some helpful links you can use to learn more about the standards yourself.
